Job Description

The Individual Giving Officer is a front-line fundraiser who will grow the fundraising program for WLIW21 and WLIW FM on Long Island, as well as support The WNET Group where applicable. This is an external facing position, working closely with donors as well as WLIW and WNET leadership to craft fundraising strategy, solicit donors and secure gifts. Primary responsibilities include:
• Create and implement fundraising and stewardship strategies for a portfolio of (approximately) 150 donors and prospects, tapping into a known network of potential supporters on Long Island;
• Work closely with the Vice President & General Manager of WLIW21/WLIW FM and WNET leadership including Vice President, Development to cultivate and solicit donor prospects;
• Collaborate with prospect research to identify, qualify, cultivate and solicit potential donors and secure gifts from these individuals;
• Develop solicitation and collateral materials and track prospect activity for WLIW21 and WLIW-FM;
• Leverage fundraising/donor analytics, external trends/research to develop fundraising strategies and best practices;
• Work with events department to develop Long Island stewardship and cultivation events;
• Additional duties, as assigned.

Qualifications include:
• A minimum of three (3) years of front-line fundraising experience managing an active portfolio of donors;
• Active knowledge of Long Island and New York philanthropic community;
• Experience devising strategies for cultivation and solicitation of major donors;
• Demonstrated track record of successfully closing gifts;
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills along with the ability to take initiative and manage complex projects;
• Ability to travel throughout Long Island;
• Proficiency with MS Office.

Candidates with experience working with CRM and fundraising databases are preferred.
