Temporary Position Title:
Instructor and Liaison--The Early College Program in Art History + Curatorial Studies
Temporary Position Summary:An initiative of the Atlanta University Center Art History + Curatorial Studies Collective (AUC Art Collective), the Early College Program in Art History and Curatorial Studies is a 4-week, co-educational program designed to encourage rising junior and senior high school students of color to pursue undergraduate studies in Art history and Curatorial Studies.
Over 4-weeks (June 21 - July 19, 2024), students complete the Ways of Seeing: Art History, Curating, and Museums course for three (3) undergraduate credits. Applicants should have an active scholarly practice that includes research and writing as well as experience in teaching high school or undergraduate lectures in Art History that interrogate the western canon with an African diasporic focus.
The ideal candidate is an innovative scholar whose pedagogical approach to Art History employs interdisciplinary methods to interrogate the changing landscape of museums and curatorial practice in the global art and museum industry.
Hours Per Week: TBD-Normal Working Hours: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Liaison
The ideal candidate should possess an advanced graduate-level background in the fields of Art History, African American Studies, Museum Studies or Curatorial Studies; an understanding of pedagogy in Art History; and a keen awareness of the topical issues related to supporting racial diversity initiatives in the visual arts. Minimum of Master's degree.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience with high school student populations in an educational and museum environment is preferred.
