Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of R&D and/or the Lead Laboratory Technician, the engineering intern will aid and support the day-to-day operation of the Pilot Plant. The R&D facility supports the development of process technologies and machine sales that find application around the globe.

Job responsibilities and tasks

  • The engineering intern position offers a variety of opportunities including basic engineering tasks related to design, analysis, and systems engineering. Opportunities can vary from performing analysis on existing laboratory equipment, assisting in the trial execution and development of future processes, performing analysis for both completed and future pilot trials.
  • Activities can include but are not limited to: data analysis, analysis methodology improvement projects, software improvement projects, hands on laboratory work, design of pilot trial setups, creating or modifying standard operating procedures, processing cause and corrective actions, assist in equipment maintenance, supplier management, and component or integrated systems test.
  • Interns will typically support one or more experienced engineers in performance of assignments, spend time shadowing actual operations, and have unique assignments that support larger pilot trial projects as well as experience the day-to-day workings of the R&D Center.
  • Interns may perform and/or participate in additional activities/events which help them build a strong network within ANDRITZ.

Educational & Professional Qualifications
  • Must be working toward a BS or MS degree in a pulp and paper related field.

Additional Qualifications
  • In addition to working in an office environment, this position requires the capability of working in a pilot plant and lab environments. These environments may include exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, chemicals, fumes, irritants, dust, and dirt.
  • Must possess strong problem solving, organizational, time management, prioritization, independent decision-making skills, while handling multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical requirements: Sit, stand, bend, reach, push, pull, kneel, stoop, crouch, climb, grasp, navigate stairs and possible lifting of up to 50 lbs. Must have visual acuity, manual dexterity, ability to endure long hours, good mobility, and wear required personal protective equipment.
