Overview

The Inventory Specialist is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families and significant others receive individualized high quality, safe patient care. It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses - are licensed, knowledgeable and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and implements the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association.

Facility: Douglas Hospital
Job Summary: Functions under the direction of the Resource Management Supply Supervisor and manager. Responsible for daily supply assessment and replenishment of supplies for nursing and procedural units. Responsible for the storage and distribution of supplies for a perpetual inventory. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Inventory Management - Performs daily supply assessment and replenishment of supplies for nursing and procedural units. - Check stock status/back orders of stock - Contact Distribution Center to request Code Red shipment. - Check expiration dates and rotates stock during daily replenishment. - Retrieves, issues, and maintains minor equipment. - Where perpetual inventory applicable: Processing fill stock program. Inputs all requisitions; processes and reviews all pick tickets. Enters credits and returns. 65% Shipping and Receiving - Retrieves outbound freight from customers. - Creates and schedules inter-transportation of goods between Wellstar sites. - Maintains transportation log of all outbound freight. - Receives, handles, and transports pharmaceuticals throughout the facility. 5% Customer Service - Effectively communicates with customer. - Friendly and courteous. - Meets or exceeds customer's expectations. - Serves as a liaison between customer and supplier. 20% Safety and Quality - Conducts expiration date checks on all stock items. - Proper handling of sharps and expired product disposal per Joint Commission regulations. - Ensures supply areas adhere to Joint Commission regulations. - Ensures supply areas are maintained and clearly labeled for safety. 10% Required Minimum Education: High school diploma Required or GED Diploma from an accredited program. Required Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s): All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
    Additional License(s) and Certification(s):Required Minimum Experience: Less than 1 year in supply inventory and replenishment as well as one year experience in the customer service field. Required and Minimum 1 year experience in a Health Care environment Preferred Required Minimum Skills: Ability to communicate and understand verbal and written English. Knowledge of medical supply terminology preferred. Possess technical skills to operate pc and hand-held devices. Possess skills to interact with clinicians and other hospital personnel.
