  • Provides vocational training and support to PCSI employees at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth to enhance employability and employee development as well as facilitate employee integration within the existing environment.
  • Provide additional training and job skills enhancement for employees who require on the job supports .
  • Help implement safe working environment for employees at all times.
  • Ensure job accommodations are provided as stated to increase independence and productivity.
  • Document progress, maintain case management and prepare reports in support of the Company, mission and AbilityOne program.
  • Support independence with independent living skills such as personal hygiene (e.g. hand washing and occasional grooming issues, etc.) as necessary for job success.
  • Advocate for assigned employees to ensure vocational needs, desires, and goals are known, addressed, and accomplished.
  • Support, implement, report, and follow up on positive behavior and behavior intervention.
  • Work closely with client staff and employees to develop positive, consistent relationships and communication to ensure opportunities and inclusion for employees.
  • Coordinate with Operations, on site management, and Workforce Development to maintain open communication and concerns about employees
  • Awareness of AbilityOne program guidelines and maintain compliance
  • Actively participate and regularly attend Workforce Development department and client staff trainings/meetings by sharing information, contributing ideas, facilitating and actively listening.
  • Regular attendance and timeliness required per departmental guidelines.
  • Participation in all applicable performance evaluation programs is required.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience advocating, training and developing people with various disabilities in a vocational setting.
  • Experience with demonstrated skills for effectively working with hearing and vision impaired adults.
  • Ability to pass criminal, drug, financial, and driving screening.
  • May need to have the ability to legally drive a company vehicle.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Proficiency in ASL and Braille ideal.
  • Requires knowledge of PC functions.
  • Operation of windows applications, MS Word, MS Excel, etc., and related applications.
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team member.
  • Ability to expertly communicate both orally and in written format.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
  • Ability to continually demonstrate poise, tact and diplomacy.
  • High attention to detail and impeccable organizational skills.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and have strong time management skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, multi-task and handle multiple priorities.

Working Conditions
  • Ability to perform duties in various work environments such as outdoors in inclement weather, hot and cold temperatures, loud noises, dirt, dust, cleaning chemicals, odors, etc.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to include mornings, nights, and weekends. (I took out holidays, would results in double time pay)
  • Ability to remain seated for up to 2 hours a day and tour facilities up to 90%.
  • Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. and carry office materials and supplies up to 20 pounds.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as calculator, phone, fax, copier, etc.
  • Ability to exchange accurate information in person, email and over the phone.
  • Primarily works indoors.
  • Occasional travel may be required, up to 5%.
