Junior Mountain Bike Instructor - Giants Ridge

JOB SUMMARY

Assists the Lead Mountain Bike Instructor(s) with daily mountain bike programs designed for the mountain bike guests at Giants Ridge. Assists the Lead Mountain Bike Instructor(s) in promoting guest safety and well-being regularly. Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with Lead Mountain Bike Instructor(s) and Recreation Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Assists with ensuring the enjoyment and safety of all participants by maintaining the program site, implementing safe practices, and helping with the organizing of activities.
• Assists with daily activities, games, lessons, and ride routes.
• Assists with teaching on flat ground, using teaching aids, some single-track riding, and beginner gravity trails.
• Performs other related duties as required.

SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE

• Able to demonstrate technical skill sets: cycling and or mountain biking.
• Able to assist the Lead Mountain Instructor with organization of daily activities.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Participates in on-going job specific trainings including safety trainings

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be at least 14 years old by date of hire.
• Ability to maintain a high level of enthusiasm and personal motivation.
• High degree of personal fitness and ability to work in variable conditions.
• Lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 25 lbs. regularly, 30-35 lbs. occasionally.
• Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise moves in a constantly changing environment.

EQUIPMENT USED

• Instructors must own and maintain their own mountain bikes with a minimum of front suspension/disc brakes.
