The purpose of this job is to safely weld in all position according to company specifications and standard work.

Job duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Follow documented procedures, standard work, routings, and blueprints to perform safe and defect free operations.
  • Hand weld all plain and alloy structural steel in all positions.
  • Use of jib or gantry crane to manually position weld equipment.
  • Grind and dress fabricated weldments.
  • May operate forklift, scissor lift and area lift to access weldments.
Required Qualifications:
  • 1+ year experience in welding
  • Experience with Flux-cored arc welding (FCAW)
  • Experience with 3-5 Multi Pass welds on Heavy 1" Plate
  • Safety first mindset.
  • Ability to work overtime to support production demands.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
  • 3+ years' Experience with Flux-cored Arc Welding (FCAW)
  • Experience or knowledge of back gouging, carbon arcing or air arcing
  • Understanding of quality requirements and ability to execute.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Ability to work well individually and in a team environment.
  • Ability to work overtime to support production demands.
Additional Information:
  • This position is located at the Caterpillar manufacturing facility located in South Milwaukee, WI.
  • 2nd and 3rd shift available
  • Pay starts at Step 1 $27.00, Step 2 $28.10 after passing 2 of 5 tests, Step 3 $29.21 after passing 4 of 5 tests.
  • Once employee passes all five required certification tests, will be placed at Step 1 of Welder pay scale $30.75; Step 2 $31.94, Step 3 $33.12 plus shift premium of $1.00 for 2nd shift or 3rd shift.
  • Employee will be placed on shift selected by the Company (2nd or 3rd shift) after passing certification tests.
  • Full Time (40 hours, 5 days/week)
  • No relocation assistance is available.
