More specifically, the individual hired for this open Laboratory research assistant position will work in the lab of Dr. Andrea Hohmann, Ph.D.

Job Summary

The Hohmann Laboratory is focused on identifying novel therapeutic strategies for suppressing pain that lack abuse liability and unwanted side effects. The approaches used in the laboratory include behavioral, neurophysiological, molecular/biochemical, histology, immunostaining, microscopy and behavior studies.

The laboratory research assistant will perform a variety of duties related to the operation and maintenance of a laboratory dedicated to molecular and psychobiological studies of infant rodents and their parents (adult rats and mice). The laboratory technician will assist and support the Principal Investigator and work with postdoctoral associates, other technicians and occasionally assist graduate/undergraduate student research.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in a laboratory setting; OR

Associate's degree and four years of experience in a laboratory setting.

Working Conditions / Demands

The role regularly requires the ability to effectively communicate. The role frequently requires the ability to move about the work environment and to position oneself to operate laboratory equipment effectively. The role requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds and will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
