We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Principal Network Engineer/Architect with expertise in on premise and cloud networking technology stacks, as well as a deep understanding of traditional infrastructure, information security, and general cloud. Principal Network Engineer

As a Principal Network Engineer at Brooks, your primary responsibility will be designing, implementing, and managing our on premise and cloud-based networking and firewall solutions. This is a hands-on role where you will design and deploy your solutions. You will ensure that these solutions meet stringent performance, scalability, security, and reliability standards. Additionally, you will play a critical role in our SecOps practices, securing our on premise and cloud environments, and contributing to the development of reproducible models for use across the globe at all other Brooks sites.

What you'll do:

  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to comprehensively understand business requirements and translate them into network solutions, ensuring security, reliability, and simplicity.
  • Design, construct, and maintain a network infrastructure using industry leading network vendor platforms across the global Brooks network.
  • Implement and oversee security and compliance measures within the environment, adhering strictly to SecOps best practices.
  • Optimize resources for cost-efficiency while maintaining a high level of availability.
  • Deploy automation for provisioning, scaling, and monitoring of services across diverse platforms.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network-related issues, providing technical support when required.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, making recommendations for adoption as appropriate.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior team members in key network and security technologies.

What you'll bring:
  • Possess a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in network engineering/architecture roles, demonstrating a strong understanding of networking principles, services, and best practices.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the following technology stacks (wired, wireless, firewall) Cisco, Meraki, Aruba, Palo Alto, and Cloud networking infrastructure (AWS, Azure, OCI).
  • Experience deploying NAC solutions (i.e. Clearpass, ISE), and 802.1X certificate-based wired/wireless and VPN authentication, PKI infrastructure management.
  • Familiarity with virtualized networking technologies; i.e AWS Transit Gateway, Cloud Wan.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure as code (IAC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation is plus.
  • Proficiency in scripting and programming languages (e.g., Python, Ruby, Bash, PowerShell).
  • Exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Understanding of core infrastructure technologies to build highly reliable and resilient systems (e.g., load balancers, Windows, Linux, clustering, etc.).
  • Certifications in network and cloud related technologies (e.g., Cisco, Aruba, Palo, Arista, Oracle Cloud, AWS, Azure) and SecOps (e.g., CISSP, CompTIA Security+) are considered a plus.
