Lecturer/Assistant Professor of Practice, Computer Engineering (NTT)

Primary Purpose and Essential Functions:
The School of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of the Pacific invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track position in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering starting in August 2024.

The successful candidate will be committed to excellence in teaching at a predominantly undergraduate institution. Teaching responsibilities will include a variety of undergraduate courses offered by the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, as well as the opportunity to develop new graduate courses in the candidate's area of expertise. Other duties include mentoring senior capstone research projects, participation in departmental and university governance, and ongoing professional development. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Engineering or a related field.
  • Applicants must have knowledge of computer systems and their applications.
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Specialization in an area of computer systems, such as computer architecture, storage, networking, digital design, or microcontrollers and embedded systems.

Requires extended periods of sitting and repetitive hand/wrist motion while using a computer keyboard and phone. Occasional standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, and reaching. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.

Work is performed during standard hours; Additional hours may be required to meet business needs or deadlines.
