The Department of Computer Science at the University of Massachusetts Boston seeks applications for two full-time, benefited, non-tenure-track Lecturers at a competitive salary level, to begin January 23, 2023. The initial appointment will be for the Spring 2023 semester, with renewals possible subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funding.

One of the positions will involve instruction at the undergraduate level in a range of computer science topics and participation in shaping our undergraduate curriculum. Primary responsibilities include teaching four courses each semester, developing new course materials, and advising students. The candidate must hold a Master's degree or higher degree in Computer Science or a related area and have prior experience in teaching Computer Science at the university level and working in the Software or Information Technology industry. Knowledge of assembly programming, computer architecture, and operating systems is highly desirable. The second position additionally includes teaching at the graduate level, with a focus in software engineering courses. Our graduate program is growing rapidly, and most of its students need to take a sequence of three software engineering courses that prepare them for employment in the software industry. Industry experience in software engineering is therefore an important qualification for this position, plus a PhD degree in Computer Science or a closely related field that is mandatory for teaching graduate courses.
