Maintenance Manager

Basic Job Functions:

The Maintenance Manager's chief responsibility is to take care of our customers by working as a member of the Nucor Steel Jackson leadership team to continually improve our safety, environmental efforts, quality, costs, productivity, and profitability as well as lead/manage the division's Maintenance and Engineering activities including long range strategic planning. This individual will be responsible for the growth and development of the Maintenance teams, while increasing our Reliability, Operational and Commercial initiatives.Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years supervisory or management leadership experience related to maintenance, engineering, and project management in the steel industry.

• Proven ability to actively lead continuous improvement in safety, housekeeping and environmental processes. Sets the example for excellence and clearly establishes expectations for the department.
• Proven ability to lead proactive maintenance and engineering processes resulting in continuous improvement in equipment reliability metrics, cost reductions, project, and budget management.
• Demonstrates strong business skill set and clear understanding of the business drivers.
• Good organizational and time management skills with the ability to stay focused on long term projects, and effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
• Influences others in a positive direction always to achieve success in accomplishing team goals and objectives, while demonstrating fairness, consistency, and compassion.
• Proven ability to help formulate long-term strategic initiatives.
• Possesses strong negotiating and effective problem-solving skills.
• Displays strong comprehension of interdependency of schedule, quality, maintenance, and operational priorities.

• Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent work experience
• Project and Contract management experience
• Multi-disciplined
