Position Summary:

The Maintenance Supervisor provides first line supervision for Mechanics and Instrument Technicians involved in the everyday operations and maintenance of our main coffee manufacturing facility. The person in this role will have responsibility for oversight of specialty maintenance crafts, contract workers, and equipment vendors. Incumbents must work in a highly dynamic environment involving both planned and unplanned activities. The Maintenance Supervisor is expected to monitor the technical performance of the facility and make any necessary adjustments to ensure that all production equipment is maintained in the highest state of readiness. Work is evaluated planned and scheduled by the Maintenance Manager, Planners, and Maintenance Supervisors through the use of CMMS and planning meetings.

Job Duties:

  • Develop and distribute work schedules to ensure a safe and efficient operation
  • Issue daily work assignments to Instrument Technicians and Mechanics provided from the planners, shift reports, and other means
  • Ensure daily work is recorded in CMMS using iPads and verify parts and labor are recorded on work orders; responsible for reviewing all work orders executed on the shift
  • Direct daily work activity for maintenance needs on a plant-wide basis
  • Develop standard work practices, inspect completed jobs, as well as PMs for quality assurance; respond to unplanned operational and maintenance events
  • Coordinate and execute (as needed) on-the-job training for Mechanics and Instrument Technicians
  • Compile data for daily operational reports, payroll, and other daily reporting activity
  • Diagnoses operational problems, recommend corrective actions, and perform RCM's when necessary
  • Work with engineering staff to assist in capital equipment replacements
  • Work with the team to establish goals, priorities, and expectations, and develop the action plans and strategies for accomplishing them
  • Conduct employee performance evaluations and develop employees for increased value to the organization and themselves
  • Establish and maintain open communication with work team members about all issues affecting them and their roles - through the use of communication boards, email, and daily meetings on the floor with operations
  • Promote team involvement and participation in setting goals, priorities, and strategies for safe, efficient, and effective plant/facility operations
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • BA/BS degree preferred, with minimum of 3 years' supervisory experience - electrical and mechanical trade required
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment required - CPG strongly preferred
  • Required knowledge of accepted quality assurance and food safety procedures and guidelines
  • Ability to work rotating shifts in support of a 24-7 production operation
  • Working knowledge of Infor CMMS software, ability to create and close work orders
  • Working knowledge of PC based systems; expertise in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Must be a problem solver with planning skills (strategic thinker) focused on the ability to plan, prioritize, and execute, which are essential to the position
  • Ability to lead people and get results through others while exhibiting strong leadership traits, i.e., integrity, ownership and a "can-do" attitude; coaching and mentoring experience desired
  • Ability to command, consult, gain consensus with effective delegation also required
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; willing to roll up sleeves and help when needed / passion for problem-solving/root cause analysis
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with all levels of the organization
Food Safety Requirements and Responsibilities:

Must comply with all Federal, State, Corporate, Warehouse, and Food Safety standards, policies, and guidelines (i.e., HACCP, GMP, SQF, FDA, etc.).

Physical Demands:

• Must also be able to walk long distances in factory, non-climate-controlled setting

• Manual dexterity required for working on machinery; ability to lift up to 50 pounds and climb vertical ladders
