Position Overview:

  • The Material Management Specialist serves as focal point for optimal material and spares coordination for the assigned sites.
  • One of its primary functions is to conduct yearly inventory count and analyze variances leading to final reconciliation for the wind farms assigned within region North America.
  • In addition, serve as primary support for issues encountered by the assigned sites in ordering, receiving, and system training.
  • The role works in constant collaboration with site management, project management, order management, finance, and other materials managers by coordinating system and process flow.
  • The position requires travel within assigned area.
  • The role reports into the centralized Resource Management and Planning organization within North America.
  • Relocation will not be offered in this role.
Responsibilities:
  • Performs required cycle counts for assigned sites and analyzes inventory variances using SAP transactions, physical inspection, other supporting systems and documentation.
  • Manage material movements within area of responsibility
  • Provide training of relevant SAP transactions to site management teams
  • Application of Lean Principles for warehouse operations
  • Goods issue of spare parts to Wind Turbines
  • Pick/Pack materials for shipping as required
  • Visually inspect materials/tools for shipping damage, wear, missing parts, or other unsatisfactory conditions
  • Work closely with Inventory Control Supervisor in SAP, as required, to receive material against open purchase orders and ship parts against open outbound delivery notes.
  • Maintain a current location file for inventory on site.
  • Comply with all Environmental, Health and Safety Requirements of the Company.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Education, Experience and Skills:
  • HS diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-2years of vocation or technical training or an associate degree or the equivalent in specific experience may be required.
  • 5-7 years of successful experience in area of responsibility and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above.
  • Strong Microsoft office skills with emphasis on Excel
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Excellent communication skills and teamwork skills, including willingness and ability to consult with subject matter experts from engineering, order management and other team members.
  • Capable of lifting 35 pounds and working in remote facilities that are subject to extreme climates.
  • Candidate must be capable of operating in a warehouse environment without local supervision, while still collaborating with local staff.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new software systems
  • Applicants must be proficient in English
  • Position could be up to 75% travel.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience with inventory management software such as SAP
  • Lean Six Sigma training
  • Experience operating a Forklift and standard office equipment
