Responsibilities

Position summary

The Mechanical Designer will be responsible for the design, debugging and assembly of new production tooling and equipment according to the organizational standards.

Essential Job Functions

  • Subject matter expert in the design, assembly and debugging of new production tooling and equipment
  • Optimize current production tooling and equipment.
  • Develop and implement equipment and tooling design and organization standards.
  • Estimate production costs, efficiencies, cost saving methods, and the effects of tooling/equipment design changes on cost and efficiency.
  • Document current installed tooling and equipment base
  • Support and comply with Spectralytics Quality System, ISO 13485 and when required medical device requirements.
  • Monitor the utilization of employee safety and OE programs
  • Support and comply with the company's Quality System, ISO, and medical device requirements
  • Read, understand, and follow work instructions and standard work
  • Partner with the other business segments: sales/marketing, customer service, engineering, quality, and finance
  • Understand customer needs and the core business markets we serve
  • Ensure business systems are implemented, maintained, and functioning properly
  • Participate in required company meetings
  • Maintain an organized work area (5S)
  • Participate in the Operational Excellence Program
  • Complete all other work duties as assigned
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements, Education & Experience
  • 2-year Design related degree
  • Experience: 3 years
  • Working knowledge of mechanical parts as well as computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks
  • CNC programming knowledge a plus
  • Able to work mechanically and troubleshoot equipment
  • Ability to consistently achieve short and long term business results
  • Ability to follow through on commitments and holds team members accountable
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher)
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask

Desirable Criteria & Qualifications
  • Supervisory experience
  • Continuing Education; including participation in local chapters, associations, and/or organizations
