What You Will Contribute:


Badger Meter is hiring a Molding Process Technician at our Milwaukee manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for the set-up, start-up, and the adjustment of plastic injection molding machines. This may involve the set-up of molds, auxiliary equipment, and secondary machining operations.

Major Job Duties/Accountability:

  • Install tools into injection molding machines according to the production schedule
  • Follow documented setup procedures: Connecting hoses, die heaters, load material, etc.
  • Set machine process parameters according to the documented process
  • Assist with tool tryouts by developing process parameters based upon scientific molding principles
  • Change out machine barrel nozzles and tips as needed
  • Setup secondary processes and equipment such as degating and drilling operations
  • Use and setup measuring fixtures on coordinate measuring machines (CMM)
  • Systematically trouble shoot quality variations to determine root cause
  • Inspect test parts to print specifications and make adjustments to correct feature sizes
  • Service molding machines by cleaning dies, clearing sprues, and freeing stuck parts
  • Set up and operate tool tryouts to support engineering development
  • Utilize production inventory management systems.
  • Follow machine shut down procedures as specified
  • Participates in 5S activities, Kaizens, Gemba walks, and other lean initiatives

Qualifications:
  • 1+ year of experience, manufacturing experience preferred
  • High School Degree required
  • Basic computer skills
  • Must understand plastic injection molding
  • Requires basic knowledge of precision gauges
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Maintains open communication and positive working relationships

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform a 20-pound lift test
