Job Summary:

The Nurse Practitioner is an integral member of the program's medical team. The program's mission is to provide withdrawal management, stabilization, and support for women in active addiction or in early recovery and with a history of trauma and/or other co-occurring mental health disorders. The Nurse Practitioner supports this mission by working in collaboration with the Medical Director, Consulting Psychiatrist and Nursing staff to conduct daily consultation with patients for assessment, medication management, medication reconciliation and referral to care. The Nurse Practitioner also assists in the assessment and referral of patients to higher levels of care as necessary.

This is a non-exempt position.

Essential Functions of Position:

  • Provides psychopharmacology evaluations for patients with co-occurring disorders
  • Prescribes necessary medications under the supervision of the Psychiatric Consultant
  • Maintains a collaborative relationship with Clinical Director, Medical Director, and Nurse Manager
  • Assists in the training of unit staff regarding pertinent mental health/substance use, trauma informed care, harm reduction and women's health topics
  • Participates in clinical rounds as necessary
  • Participates in recommendations for after care
  • Coordinates with various insurance companies to present clinical justification for higher level of care
  • Provides medical assessment and follow-up as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned by Program Director and Psychiatric Consultant

Requirements for the Position
  • Current Nurse Practitioner's License in State of Massachusetts
  • Acute care experience as RN or NP
  • Prior substance use disorder and mental health experience preferred
  • Familiarity with addictions, homelessness, HIV/AIDS, women's health and mental illness
  • Knowledge of and experience working with individuals with co-occurring disorders preferred
