Description
Location: Fort Hartsuff, 82034 Fort Avenue in Burwell, Nebraska
Examples of Work
Under the direction of the regional superintendent, responsible for the administration, operation, preservation and maintenance of Fort Hartsuff State Historical Park and North Loup State Recreation Area; develop and implement maintenance, preservation and interpretation programs for historic structures, archaeological features, and historic artifact collection.

Maintain and develop interpretive and informational displays, perform historical research, and generate related written compositions as required. Supervise and perform extensive grounds and facility maintenance tasks. Hire, train, and supervise a seasonal workforce, ensuring equal opportunity for all employees.

Develop, implement and publicize promotional activities related to the historical area; manage park resale operation. Conduct tours and speak to groups. Responsible for the collection of various fees and the proper accounting of same. Maintain records and prepare appropriate reports. Performs related work as required. Some travel may be required.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in park/recreation management or a related field; (wildlife, fisheries, natural resources sciences, public administration, history, museum studies, cultural resource preservation, interpretation, travel and tourism, planning) AND at least two years related experience including one year in a supervisory capacity. Related coursework/training and/or experience in park/recreation management or related field may substitute for the Bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

OTHER: Driver's license is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of historical park administration; operation and maintenance of park facilities, grounds, and equipment; preservation and conservation techniques related to maintenance of historic structures and artifact collection; museum/interpretive center operating fundamentals and requirements; park operations, financial management, departmental rules and regulations.

Ability to assess, plan and formulate park management needs; communicate effectively; establish and maintain community and public relations with private and governmental entities; plan, assign and supervise the work of others; prepare and maintain reports; enforce park rules and regulations.
