Under the general direction of the Manager of Patient Access Services, this role is responsible for oversight of daily activities tied to the Patient Access Central Work Queue area. Responsibilities include ensuring all PAS work queues involving scheduling, registration, insurance, and ADT edits are managed timely and accounts are worked in accordance with departmental standards.

Job Specific Responsibilities:

  • Working Lead responsible for assisting with all work queue management on a daily basis.
  • Monitoring of all Patient Access work queue activity and ensures timely completion of order scheduling and filing of accounts with claim edits.
  • Ensures all Work Queue Standard Work Processes are adhered to and followed by all team members.
  • Maintains knowledge specific to scheduling of imaging exams at Salem Hospital, claim edits and account resolution.
  • Ensures all reference materials are up to date and available to staff for managing all PAS work queues.
  • Team huddles to review work queue volume and provide direction.
  • Creates daily/weekly assignments to disperse work amongst the team.
  • Takes direction from Business and Operations Manager to work collaboratively with hospital departments, medical groups, and MGB Revenue Cycle to ensure best practice in workflows.
  • Maintains clear channels of communication for effective problem-solving with team and leadership.
  • Identifies trends through workqueue analysis and problem solves with hospital departments to improve workflows and reduce denials.
  • Actively participates on designated committees, both internal and external regarding the revenue cycle and scheduling.
  • Adhere to hospital wide standards and department specific standards for service excellence, including, but not limited to: identification of and response to customer needs, appropriate communication, protection of patient privacy and confidentiality, etc.
  • Maintain a professional relationship and cooperative rapport with co-workers, other healthcare professionals, supervisors and other leaders across the organization.
  • Understands that professional and effective communication, while breaking down silos across departments is critical to departmental and hospital success.
  • Adheres to HIPAA requirements and maintains confidentiality of all patient information.
  • Provides lead coverage as needed in other PAS Business and Operations areas.
Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:
  • Assists with writing of annual reviews for 10 FTEs


Qualifications
Skills:

Required: Familiarity with Epic work queues, use of PowerPoint, Word and Excel. Ability to operate IT equipment to run both in-person or remote training.
Preferred: None

Experience:
  • Required: Minimum of 3 years working as a registrar or scheduler in a hospital or physician office setting.
  • Preferred: None
Education/Degree requirements:
  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Preferred: Bachelors Degree
