The Pharmacy Prior Authorization Representative is responsible for the administration of prior authorizations requests for patients whose health plan requires drug prior authorizations for different therapy types.

Location : Hybrid; 376 Northlake Blvd., Altamonte Springs, FL 32701

Candidates must reside within 50 miles or 1-hour commute each way.

Elevance Health operates in a Hybrid Workforce Strategy, providing various levels of flexibility while also ensuring that associates have opportunities to connect in-person. Unless in a designated virtual-eligible role and specified as primarily virtual by the hiring manager, associates are required to work at an Elevance Health location at least once per week, and potentially several times per week. Specific requirements and expectations for time onsite will be discussed as part of the hiring process. Candidates must reside within 50 miles or 1-hour commute each way of a relevant Elevance Health location.

Shifts : 10:00am-7:00pm & 11:00am-8:00pm

How you will make an impact:

  • Reviews accuracy and completeness of prior authorization information requested and ensures supporting documents are present and meet company set standards.
  • Assists with the completion of medical necessity documentation to expedite approvals and ensures that appropriate follow up is performed.
  • Collaborates with other departments to assist in obtaining prior authorizations/appeals.
  • Document insurance company interactions and all prior authorization information in system.
  • Reviews insurance denials and submit appeals as permitted by payor.
  • Enters re-authorizations into the portal and ensures accurate completion of re-authorization forms.
  • Submits completed re-authorization forms to the appropriate insurance plans.
  • Maintains log of all re-authorizations submitted.
  • Follows up with the patient's insurance company or physician office by phone, email or spreadsheets on all submitted re-authorization for patient approval/denial status.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Requires a HS diploma or GED and a minimum of 2 years of experience processing pharmacy prior authorizations, and a minimum of 1 year of experience applying knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and Managed Care reimbursement guidelines; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background
Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences
  • 1 year of Specialty Pharmacy experience.
  • Pharmacy claims experience.
  • Pharmacy denial experience.
  • Cover My Meds / Navinet experience (PA Submission portal).
  • Medical terminology experience.
