Phlebotomist Lead
Brigham & Women's Physicians Organization(BWPO)

1. Provides operational and technical guidance to phlebotomy staff including but not limited to:

a. Assignment and appropriate distribution of tasks to phlebotomists.

b. Scheduling and/or scheduling adjustments as needed.

c. Ensures designated phlebotomy sites are clean, safe and meets regulatory compliance standards as described by the Phlebotomy Manager, including routine walk through inspections.

d. Reports operational and technical challenges to the Phlebotomy Manager routinely and implements per manager's request at the designated sites.

e. Reports non-compliance issues to the Phlebotomy Manager and assists with investigations and/or corrective actions as needed.

f. Training of staff on new procedures, updated procedures or retraining of current staff as needed.

g. Serves as onsite phlebotomy subject matter expert and designated point person for operations of the designated sites in the absence of the Phlebotomy Manager.

h. Purchase of material for designated phlebotomy sites and collaboration with the Director of Operations or designee for continuous improvement of purchasing practices.

i. Assists the Phlebotomy Manager with tasks such as monitoring turnaround time, staff attendance and other quality and/or safety monitors as requested.

Qualifications
High School diploma required, B.S. degree in science related area preferred.

2. Phlebotomy certification required.

3. Minimum of (3) three years of phlebotomy experience. Such experience should include collecting specimens from all age groups (newborn, adults, geriatric, etc.).

4. Prior supervisory or management experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
