Position Summary

This position involves operating the asphalt plant and other equipment efficiently and effectively to maximize production while maintaining a safe work environment at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task
  • Places raw aggregate and liquid asphalt materials through the mixing drum to be stored in silos until ready for load-out on trucks for delivery to job sites.
  • Receives incoming raw materials and maintains inventory levels and stockpiles
  • Works with quality control department to ensure a quality mix is produced
  • Communicates with project managers, superintendents and crews on an hourly and daily basis
  • Assists plant management in ordering materials needed for plant operation
  • Operates plant equipment to regulate flow of materials to and from conveyors, chutes, pumps, and storage bins
  • Performs repairs as needed to plant equipment and performs preventative maintenance in order to keep the plant running
  • Assists plant management with record keeping and daily production schedules for submitting reports on production and maintenance
  • Performs a variety of tasks assisting with the operation of the plant, including using hand tools, cleaning, washing, sweeping, and shoveling materials
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
  • Must be safety-oriented and exhibit safe work habits
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn new skills
  • Perform well in a "TEAM" environment
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
  • Willing to work hours that are associated to the asphalt industry, including overtime, nights and weekends as needed
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instruction.
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Valid driver license is required
  • Pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen
Minimum Education and Experience
  • 1-3 years of experience in asphalt industry preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
Physical Requirements & Conditions
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions andtolerate being exposed to loud noise
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds
  • Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces and at heights.
Compensation & Benefits

We are excited to share the base hourly range for this position is$22.70 - $30.76. The offered compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, business need, market conditions, proficiencies, skills, education, and experience. Additionally, at Martin Marietta we place a high value on internal pay equity and will consider the compensation for those in similarly situated roles and direct team members. The posted range for this role represents the total reasonable pay range and does not solely represent a hiring range. Therefore, hiring at the top or maximum of the range should not be expected as it would not allow for salary growth opportunities in the role, would diminish promotion value, and may not align with internal equity.
