Our client is seeking a Principal Wireless Engineer in Greenwood Village, CO.

Role Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Wireless Engineer with deep expertise in WiFi technologies to join our dynamic team on a contract basis. This role offers a unique opportunity to help drive the architecture, design, and development of future generations of carrier grade CPE devices and wireless access points. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with internal product and development teams and external industry organizations such as the WiFi Alliance, driving the evolution of WiFi networking, security, quality of service and mesh networking standards, participating in Interop events, and influencing next-generation WiFi specifications. You will also contribute to the development of cutting-edge features for our Access Points (APs) and provide critical support to resolve field issues in production environments.

• WiFi Alliance Engagement
o Actively represent the organization's interests within the WiFi Alliance, participating in working groups related to WiFi security, interoperability, and future specifications.
o Provide technical expertise during specification reviews, ensuring alignment with the company's product roadmap and technical vision.
o Participate in Interop events, testing and validating the company's wireless solutions against industry standards and other vendors.
• Access Point Development
o Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and drive implementation of innovative features across our Access Point products.
o Design, test, and document new features, ensuring seamless integration with existing frameworks and systems.
o Develop and document test methodology toward requirements traceability and automation of device testing.
o Provide expert-level troubleshooting for complex field issues, working closely with development, support, and customer-facing teams.

Skills & Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
• 10+ years of hands-on experience in the design, development, and implementation of wireless networking solutions, preferably within a carrier grade WiFi environment.
• Demonstrated expertise in WiFi technologies, including in-depth understanding of 802.11 standards (e.g., 802.11be, 802.11ax, 802.11ac).
• Experience with WiFi security protocols (WPA2, WPA3, etc.) and a strong understanding of wireless security best practices.
• Strong foundation in network engineering principles, including IPv4, IPv6, DHCP, DSCP, routing, and switching.
• Proficiency with network analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark, spectrum analyzers, ).
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to independently investigate and resolve complex technical challenges.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, including executives.
• Prior participation in WiFi Alliance activities or other industry standards bodies.
• 15+ years of hands-on experience in the design, development, and implementation of wireless networking solutions, preferably within a carrier grade WiFi environment.
• Track record of defining requirements, delivering hardware and software designs, and developing features for WiFi gateways/devices.
• Knowledge and experience with embedded software languages (e.g. C) and tools, build systems, cross compilers, embedded Linux kernels and hardware abstraction layers.
• Understanding of OpenWRT, experience working with wireless protocol stacks and data models, and familiarity with the Linux connectivity stack.
• Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl) for automation and data analysis.
