The PacBio Ecosystem and Applications team is seeking a product manager to serve as an advocate for customers software needs for key applications like rare disease whole genome sequencing, transcriptomics, pharmacogenomics, repeat expansion, and beyond. You will be responsible for building an initial portfolio of preferred software partners that enable end-to-end analysis workflows. You will manage co-development, collaboration, or comarketing activities with partners to deliver more complete solutions for our growing customer base. The role includes creating customer-facing documentation that showcase the power of PacBio sequencing technologies.
This is a highly collaborative role. You will work closely with product and segment marketing to identify analysis workflow gaps and strategize how to fill these gaps with internally developed tools, open source third party tools, or external partner software. You will work closely with our software and computational biology teams to prioritize development roadmaps and ensure seamlessness between PacBio software and externally-developed tools. Lastly, you will work with business development and alliance management to ensure synched internal and partner roadmaps.
Responsibilities
- Manage the portfolio of internal and external partner tools for secondary and tertiary analysis software in our key application areas
- Conduct gap analysis to identify unmet customer needs around analysis software
- Determine user and performance requirements and work with software product management to develop technical requirements for partner software
- Scope and manage co-development programs and customer collaborations
- Develop marketing, sales and technical training content for software tools
- Be an internal expert on what our competitors are doing with regards to software tools and partner portfolio
- Evaluate success of partnerships by revenue impact, publications, and voice of customer
- You may be required from time to time to visit and work at PacBio locations and for such times as the Company considers necessary for the proper performance of your duties

Position Requirements
- BS or MS in STEM field required
- 2+ years of relevant work experience in life science company or related field, ideally with >2 years in software product management
- Intimate knowledge of genomics software including industry standard file types and data structures; experience with long reads preferred but not required
- Proficiency with command line tools, cloud computing and software engineering best practices
- Track record of success defining, launching, or supporting excellent software products or collaborative projects
- Ability to prioritize and evaluate opportunities taking into account commercial needs, technical requirements, and resource availability
- Outstanding teamwork and communication skills and ability to contribute to fast-paced, growing culture emphasizing hard work and generosity
- Must have an excellent work ethic, exceptional judgment, and sense of authenticity that leads to unquestionable integrity

Salary Range:
$110,500.00 - $149,500.00
