Product Quality Engineer

Vertiv is hiring a Product Quality Engineer in Huntsville, AL responsible for establishing product reliability targets, quality planning, coordinating Quality function preparation for manufacturing facility launches, supporting ongoing process capability, and leading resolution of global product field failures. The product quality engineer is the Quality function lead for new product development and introduction.

Responsibilities

1. Leads the development of FMEAs and control plans and maintains the resulting protocols for processing materials into finished products

2. Develops standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation of both manufactured and purchased products

3. Supports Supplier Quality and the plants in the execution of supplier PPAPs.

4. Approves PPAPs from the plants.

5. Leads corrective action activities and facilitates cross-functional teams in the application of the 8D methodology.

6. Supports plant efforts to address customer complaints and returns.

7. Monitors global product field failure rates to drive improvement and inform future reliability targets.

8. Initiates continuous improvements to reduce costs and increase performance. Supports the plants in the roll-out of global improvement initiatives.

9. Applies statistical techniques (including SPC) where appropriate.

10. Supports the execution and maintenance of an ISO 9001 certified quality management system.

11. Other responsibilities may be assigned from time to time as needed, based on the evolution of the company and the requirements of the department/position

Education

Bachelor's degree in engineering with minimum 1-3 years of experience

Associates degree with minimum 3-5 years of experience

Or equivalent work experience

Requirements

• ASQ CQE preferred

• Knowledge of the control plans, FMEAs, MSA, SPC, and PPAP

• Excellent communication and listening skills

• Ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities

• Excellent problem solver; experience with 8D methodology and supporting tools

• Customer focus

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools

• Intermediate to advanced in Excel

• Power BI experience - preferred

• Minitab experience - preferred

• Knowledge of ISO 9001 or related quality standards

• Six Sigma and Lean certification or experience a plus

• Ability to travel

Special Physical Requirements

Heavy Lifting over 45 lbs.

Constant/Frequent Standing

Additional Requirements: Must wear hearing protection, eye protection, and other PPE as required by the job.
