Pay Rate: $65,000 /yr
Schedule: 8a-5p generally; NCAT Campus


Project Management includes developing the components to ensure a successful program including scheduling and budgeting requirements. This includes but is not limited to equipment selection, planning, purchasing, and implementation; instruction design and coordination; engagement with internal and external stakeholders, industry and community organizations.

Program Director responsibilities include the day-to-day operations, supervision of all employees, and the management of the overall health of the assigned programs. Oversight of program instruction, instructional counseling, academic planning, serving on various committees, recruiting, participating in local, state, regional, and national professional activities and organizations as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
  1. Evaluate components of the project’s scope of work. Assists with compiling, developing, and submitting of reports and data, etc. to ensure reporting requirements are met.
  2. Track performance and monitor progress to ensure deadlines to be met or revisions of the programs identifying needs accordingly to timelines and goals.
  3. Assists with purchasing, staff selection and training, assigns roles and responsibilities, provides effective supervision, and manages performance to ensure efficient operations specific to Smart Factory and Smart Manufacturing.
  4. Prepares and communicates project status reporting regarding milestones, budget, schedule, deliverables, risks, opportunities, and issues.
  5. Oversight of the project budget and timelines to ensure project(s) produce the specified results in the annual workplan(s).
  6. Work with Faculty and Curriculum Development team to identify and create new content, courses, and programs focused on Smart Manufacturing.
  7. Identifies strategic industry partners and work with internal and external stakeholders to expand Smart Manufacturing opportunities.

  Program Director Responsibilities
  1. Acts as point of contact for all Licensure/Certification/Credential information for program or courses.
  2. Responsible for Program Review process and scheduling program courses each semester.
  3. Schedules and facilitates all Industry Advocate Team meetings and communication with IAT members & attend all IAT meetings.
  4. Assists Dean with yearly budget preparation and provides and utilizes management strategies to keep the program fiscally viable.

Position Specific Responsibilities
  • Ability to develop and administer short- and long-range strategic plans with respect to programs, facilities, staff, and fiscal issues.
  • Assists and provides guidance in developing industry-recognized credentials

  • Education, Experience, Knowledge & Skills Needed:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in subject area or related field, required. Master’s degree, preferred.
  • Three or more year’s progressive industry related management or supervisory experience, required
  • Experience in Higher Education, preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training, instruction and/or other occupational experience may be considered in lieu of experience in Higher Education.
  • Knowledge in the areas of established technology, as well as a working understanding of new and emerging technologies.
  • Familiarity with following area preferred:RoboticsRobotic ProgrammingElectronicsIndustrial WiringMotors & Motor ControlsProgrammable Logic ControlsInstrumentation Industrial Fluid Power Manufacturing Automation Concepts
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – must be able to effectively work with students, technical and administrative personnel in a pleasant, professional, and efficient manner.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision. Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Effective time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a timely manner, and the ability to prudently prioritize tasks, projects and goals.
  • Demonstrate ability and knowledge to provide team leadership for planning.
