The Courtyard Newark - University of Delaware has an immediate opening for an individual with a dynamic personality and strong technical skills to fill a Hotel Maintenance position. We are an award-winning, recently-renovated hotel with a diverse customer base that requires top-notch customer service.

The Engineer will be responsible for upkeep, preventative maintenance and troubleshooting with various machines and systems, in accordance with the standards of Shaner Hotels and the respective franchises. The ideal applicant will be customer service oriented and willing to go the extra mile to make the guest experience one to remember. Requires a working knowledge of commercial refrigeration, ice machines, industrial chiller systems, air handling units, FCUs, basic electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance. Full time position with benefits. Evening, weekend, and holiday hours may be required.

  • General knowledge of basic property maintenance.
  • Ability to follow hotel standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to prioritize & organize work assignments.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot alternative solutions.
  • Maintain the facilities and grounds cleanliness, condition, and quality based on hotel and owner standards.
  • Prior hotel experience preferred.
  • Prior maintenance experience recommended.
  • Service and mechanical certifications a plus.

Minimum of two years of experience preferably in a hotel; franchised hotel experience a plus. Knowledge of all mechanical equipment critical to the operation of the building; proper chemical handling and disposal. Ability to prioritize tasks and comply with deadlines for work assignments. Ability to interact positively with hotel personnel and provide prompt solutions to problems. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals. Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.
