Zurich (Boston, MA) seeks a Property Underwriter to be responsible for underwriting and analyzing new and renewal policies for large commercial property business using the Zurich Way of Underwriting within delegated authority levels on assignments of higher technical complexity ensuring a high-level service to customers. Specific duties include: underwrite and analyze new and renewal business utilizing The Zurich Way of Underwriting framework; administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations, and rating annual rules; develop, maintain and collaborate with Line of Business representatives on referrals; develop and maintain relationships with distributors; supports the sales culture by being a Help Point for agents, brokers and customers; proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities; complete detailed opportunity assessment with key distributors to identify growth opportunities; negotiate Terms and Conditions and close deals; cross-sell other lines of business to increase product density with the account; participate in Sales Team meeting; serve as key Zurich contact for assigned target accounts; calculate Target Price accurately by utilizing underwriting tools appropriately; measure exposures/analyze risk; service accounts, handle declinations/cancellations; participate in marketing presentations to assigned agents/brokers; develop and maintain positive customer relationships; anticipate customer needs, monitor trends in order to recommend changes; analyze needs, develop and recommend alternatives for improvements to processes, customer service or products; and lead short-term defined scope projects. Position requires travel throughout New England states for customer visits. Option to work remotely with required travel to Boston, MA office 2 times per week.

Position requires a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Business, Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related field of study, plus 3 years of experience in the job offered, or as an International Service Consultant, or similar international insurance programs position. Must have 2 years of experience engaging broker and customer contacts with proactive coordination and design of international risk program structures and protocols. Specific experience must also include: analyzing risks of manufacturing, wholesale, retail, and real estate industry properties, including evaluating fire hazard and natural disaster risks; analyzing engineering design of machinery and production operations to identify, assess, and propose mitigating controls for known and expected risks and hazards; performing servicing of international risk programs, including policy issuance and premium collection; ensuring multinational insurance program compliance with variety of foreign insurance regulations and tax requirements; using risk evaluation tools for determining property damage and business interruption loss scenarios and estimated magnitudes; using data modeling software to run simulations of natural catastrophe events and develop damage estimates and probabilities; altering and adjusting modeling inputs to capture precise features of property damage and business interruption risk for commercial and industrial properties; soliciting of property insurance submissions, including effectively articulating risk appetite, negotiating of insurance policy terms and conditions with brokers and agents. Must be willing to travel throughout New England states for customer visits. Option to work remotely with required travel to Boston, MA office 2 times per week.
