Our QA Engineers develop test plans and write automated test scripts to ensure the quality delivery of software at Blue Cross of Idaho. Collaborate with Product Owners, business and system analysts, and external business teams to understand business and technical functional requirements to create those test plans and test cases. Use a combination of test automation tools and custom code/scripts to automate those test cases, and ensure those automated tests are run as part of a CI/CD pipeline. Define and track quality assurance metrics such as defects, defect counts, test results and test status.

Required Education: must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or closely related field of study or equivalent work experience (Two years' relevant work experience is equivalent to one year college)
  • International Degree equivalency
  • Applicable certification(s) +2 years additional experience
  • Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or closely related field of study + 2 years additional experience

Required Experience: (minimum) 2-4/+ years' relevant experience such as: automated testing and Quality Assurance (QA) to include API test automation tools (Robot Framework, Postman, Katalon Studio, Rest-Assured, Karate DSL, etc.), UI test automation tools (Selenium, Appium, etc.), and Agile/Scrum methodology

Knowledge of:
  • Integration of automated tests into a Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipeline
  • Git-based source control software (GitLab, GitHub, etc.)
  • Relational databases (MS SQL, Sybase ASE, etc.)

Ability to:
  • Design, develop, test and debug automated API and UI tests and test suites using common test automation tools.
  • Analyze specifications and user stories to develop test plans.
  • Collaborate with external business teams and other business and system analysts to understand business and technical functional requirements.
  • Identify defects and questionable functionality; manage defects through to closure.
  • Read and write SQL; read and understand XML.
  • Triage and solve complex problems using structured troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Work independently as well as work collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Software design and development using C# (.NET), Java and/or other OOP language
  • Testing healthcare applications and data (membership/eligibility, claims, provider, etc.)
  • Working with and testing data coming from and consumed by the Facets healthcare claim adjudication system
  • Knowledge of software security, performance, load, and stress testing.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and healthcare administration functions, including claims processing, eligibility verification, provider verification and pre-authorization.
  • Ability to read and write .NET (C#) to write custom automated tests.
  • Experience with Team Foundation Server (TFS).

Your day may look like:
  • Use a combination of test tools and custom code/scripts to automate test cases
  • Analyze customer and business requirements and write automated tests to verify the solutions implemented meet those requirements.
  • Direct quality assurance testing of application software to ensure proper operation, performance, and freedom from defects.
  • Document testing results so they can be provided in the event of an audit.
  • Administer quality assurance environment(s).
  • Ensure software changes have successfully passed testing requirements before such product is rolled into production via the change management process.
  • Ensure change control process is followed for high quality software development, ensuring that all change management requirements have been met before promotion to production.
  • Work with development team to track, resolve, and document complex software defects and implementation problems found during the quality assurance process. Report progress on problem resolution to management.
  • Assure test application systems are properly documented.
  • Make recommendations to management regarding the acquisition and/or implementation of quality assurance tools and other software that increases information systems efficiency.
  • Assist both internal and external auditors, as required.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
