The R&D Leadership Development Program for Laboratory Diagnostics (R&D LDP) is a two-year rotational program. During the two years the participants will be exposed to different areas of the business taking on new challenging projects, building on and developing technical capabilities, networking and enhancing leadership skills.

What is the R&D LDP for Assay Development?

The assay development track is designed to prepare you for a career in Assay Development, R&D by providing diverse technical and leadership experiences. The assay development track is a two-year program that consists of two 12-month rotational assignments withing different R&D functions/geographic locations that will provide a holistic experience across R&D and help you in successfully transitioning to a specialized role within Assay Development after graduating from the program. You will gain experience in the lifecycle of in vitro diagnostic assay development from the concept phase through commercialization and product support. You will receive mentoring from senior leaders within Assay Development, gain access to and network with Siemens senior decision-makers and key leaders, and learn what it is like to work as part of a company that is solving global challenges.

Assay Development: Fosters a well-rounded understanding of the development of in vitro diagnostics from the concept phase to commercialization and product support, implementing a range of interdisciplinary skills and processes.
  • In Vitro Diagnostic Assay and Calibrator Development for automated analyzers
  • Reagent Optimization and Troubleshooting
  • Design Control and Design Transfer to Manufacturing
  • Systems Integration
  • Product Support
  • Design control regulated activities such as risk management, design verification, design change, process characterization and validation

To apply for the Assay Development R&D Leadership Development Program, candidates must meet the following requirements:
  • Assay Development track majors (education level - PhD) : Biochemistry, Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Engineering, Biophysics, Physical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or similar
  • Graduation date: Must graduate by the program start date, but no more than one year prior; program start date July 2024
  • Preferred GPA: 3.4
  • Willingness to relocate between rotations. Potential locations include but are not limited to Tarrytown, NY, Glasgow, DE, Flanders, NJ and Walpole, MA
  • Work Authorization: Permanent work authorization in the U.S. is required

The pay for this position is $112,000 annually; however, base pay offered may vary depending on education, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. As a requirement of the rotational program, you will be based out of different sites and will receive an additional cost of living adjustment payment for the duration of the rotation.
