Description:

The Department of Radiology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the tenure track. Expertise is required in the specific area of radiopharmaceutical chemistry with an emphasis on small molecular PET imaging and/or radiopharmaceutical therapy agents.

Candidates applying for this position must have experience in small-molecule radiopharmaceutical chemistry. It would be preferred to have experience in agent development, radiosynthesis methods, and/or translation of new molecules to production for translational or clinical research. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree. The ideal candidate should have a history of and willingness to be part of collaborative research in radiopharmaceutical chemistry, molecular imaging, or radiopharmaceutical therapy. Additionally, proficiency in grant writing and prior success in obtaining grant funding would be considered an asset.

Teaching responsibilities may include the development of course content, teaching and mentoring students, trainees, residents, and interns, as well as graduate students and visiting scholars, primarily in the laboratory setting.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include conducting research in the area of development of novel radiopharmaceuticals with application to neurosciences, cancer, and cardiology and developing an independent and highly collaborative program in radiopharmaceutical chemistry.

The successful candidate will develop and lead a new research group in the Department of Radiology that collaborates closely with existing radiochemistry research programs, the Cyclotron Facility, the Penn PET Center, and the Division of Nuclear Medicine. Additional responsibilities will include supervising graduate students and postdocs, grant writing and management, and collaborations with clinician-investigators.

The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with faculty in the Department of Radiology to develop and translate new radiopharmaceuticals and to support a growing molecular imaging research program at Penn.
