Advertised Job Summary:

The Research Program Coordinator will work with the faculty principal investigator, Dr. Elizabeth Will on NIH-funded grant projects focused on young children with neurodevelopmental conditions, specifically Down syndrome. Responsibilities may include: conducting participant assessments, assisting with managing data including REDCap database management, preparing reports for families and funding agencies, assistance with outreach and recruitment including website and newsletter communications, training and supervising undergraduate and graduate research assistants on study protocols. The position involves travel within the Southeastern United States for participant assessments and outreach and recruitment events, and nationally for conference attendance. This position is ideal for research SLPs, someone planning to apply to PhD programs in Communication Sciences, Psychology, Human Development and Family Sciences, or related fields, or someone who desires a longer-term position in research with a higher level of intellectual stimulation and challenge.

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience working with families who have children with neurodevelopmental disorders; prior experience working with infants with developmental delays and/or complex medical conditions; prior experience conducting human subjects clinical assessments for research; knowledgeable and experienced with Institutional Review Board (IRB) requirements for human subjects research; Experience with REDCap data management software; Prior experience in recruitment and outreach for research

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

This individual must be able to communicate effectively with faculty, postdocs, other research staff, and graduate and undergraduate students, as well as communicate effectively and sensitively with families who participate in research. This individual must also be interested and effective in working with children ages birth through five years with developmental delays and clinical conditions.

Job Duty:

Administer standardized and experimental assessments to children with developmental disorders and their families. Travel within the Southeastern United States is required. Conduct pre and post-assessment duties including scheduling, preparing measures to be administered, mailing information to families and processing completed data. Score and summarize assessment data through feedback reports.

Oversees the general flow and coordination of assessments, including coordination or pre- and post-assessment activities among staff. Responsibilities may also include onboarding and coordinating scheduling of undergraduate research assistants.
