Job Responsibilities

Pennoni Associates is currently seeking a Roadway Project Engineer to work out of our Cleveland or Columbus, OH offices to perform the following, but not limited to:

  • Work as part of a diverse design team to provide design services across a variety of practices.
  • Lead or help design projects in roadway, bikeways, pedestrian facilities, trails, or bridges.
  • Coordinating and working with internal staff to perform needed field work, design calculations, plan preparation, quantity calculations, and submission to various clients.
  • Work in several design programs to perform engineering and design tasks.
  • Assist project staff as needed for a variety of projects.
  • Mentor less experienced staff.
  • Aid in the writing of proposals as well as scheduling and budgeting of projects.
Required Attributes

  • Experience working on transportation, roadway, trail projects, or similar.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects, across multiple teams and disciplines
  • Experience/knowledge of ODOT design criteria
  • Ability to plan, budget, and schedule preparation on all phases of an engineering design project using engineering principles.
  • Ability to work independently or with teams.
  • Efficient use of engineering software, including OpenRoads Designer and 3D modeling software.
Preferred Attributes

  • 10+ years of transportation design experience.
  • PE License preferred.
  • Ability to work independently to solve engineering design issues and provide justification for the work, coordinate with internal staff as well as external clients and teaming partners.
  • Ability to provide direction to more junior level staff during project development.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Looks for and seizes opportunities to improve work products.
  • Has a sense of pride and ownership in work product.
  • Beginning to join professional organizations and establishing relationships
