We are seeking a Scientist to provide services in support of the overall functions of the trans-NIH Center for Human Immunology (CHI), Division of Intramural Research (DIR).

Responsibilities

  • Perform single cell experimental design and processing, especially CITE-Seq, ASAP-Seq, and immune profiling.
  • Discuss single cell experimental results with bioinformatics scientists and researchers.
  • Design and process single cell experiments with complex workflows that incorporate adaptable use of components such as sample hashing, customization of feature reference panels, or enrichment of rare cell populations.
  • Maintain and keep up-to-date with developing single cell technologies to incorporate the most appropriate technical advances in experimental designs.
  • Independently and working as a team, perform experiments with the use of single cell technologies, and act as a subject-matter expert on which assays should be deployed for a given study aims or sample types.
  • Assess merits of emerging sequencing-based technologies, such as spatial transcriptomics, and lead the implementation of these with workflows tailored to study requirements.
  • Perform gene expression, CITE-Seq, ASAP-Seq, ATAC-Seq, and immune profiling single cell assays.
  • Prepare sequencing libraries for Illumina and 10x Genomics platforms
  • Process cell suspensions for single cell analysis using 10x Genomics instruments
  • Prepare and QC RNA and DNA samples for sequencing.
  • Perform routine maintenance, operation and troubleshooting of 10x Genomics, Illumina, and high-throughput robotic automation instrumentation.
  • Maintain detailed records of experimental procedures


Qualifications

  • PhD. in molecular biology, biochemistry, or related field is required.
  • Minimum two (2) years or more of work experience with 10x Genomics platform.
  • Proficiency with basic laboratory techniques, such as LIMS, Cell Ranger, and further Bioinformatics/Sequence analysis.
  • Good understanding of laboratory biosafety standards.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including knowledge of computer systems and ability to work independently with data analysis programs.
