The Senior Application Engineer will provide customers with support relating to product development, product qualification, cost down product solutions, failure analysis and processing/presentation of corrective actions. This Engineer will support the marketing & sales of products sold by Advanced Materials. The application engineer will offer our customers a greater level of end use understanding, therefore allowing the voice of the customer to be more clearly heard by Materion.

The Senior Applications Engineer will have the opportunity to:

  • Develops and manages relationships with customers and industry contacts and develop product/process solutions.
  • Participate in market and product/service strategy and roadmap creation as well as support strategy execution.
  • Provide engineering support to the customer to identify and resolve design issues or opportunities.
  • Interfaces with customers and/or Materion internal quality teams on all technical quality issues and monitors corrections/improvements through to completion.
  • Travels to customer locations as needed to participate in technology exchanges and technical support meetings.
  • Responsible for training of internal Materion team on specific technology or product/service
  • Sets up and performs application experiments, such as PVD thin film deposition using vacuum deposition tools including magnetron sputtering, E-Beam evaporation and etc.
  • Performs materials analysis using instruments including Surfscan, profilometer, four-point probe and etc.
  • Conduct internal development trials with guidance from R&D personnel. and customer application trials.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant science or engineering field required
  • PhD or MBA preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in development/manufacturing environment
  • Experience with PVD thin film deposition and metrology equipment
  • Experience in a clean room environment preferred
  • Experience with six sigma methodologies preferred
  • Ability to travel internationally and domestically (25%)
