Basic Job Functions:

The primary function of the Purchasing Agent is to create and execute a purchasing strategy for raw materials, products, and services. Responsibilities include but are not limited to ordering raw materials, managing inbound logistics to optimize the flow of goods, communicating with internal departments regarding material shortages, substitutions, and aged inventory, managing obsolete inventory, negotiating contracts, managing internal controls, and leading the purchasing team.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of purchasing in a manufacturing setting or relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SAP or similar ERP experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Operations, Management, or related field
  • Leadership experience
  • Supply Chain Certification or MBA
  • Experience in several of the following disciplines: business law, contract management, internal controls, inventory management, negotiations, procurement, risk management, or warehouse experience
