ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Compensation Manager position collaborates with organizational leadership and stakeholders to advance and support CWS’ compensation program and procedures. This position is responsible for ensuring that the organization’s compensation programs, policies and procedures are understood and consistently administered in compliance with internal policies and government regulations. To ensure alignment with CWS’ compensation philosophy across all parts of the organization, the role will function in a hands-on, subject matter expert capacity and be in direct communication with CWS’ departments and teams. Finally, the role will apply the range of their professional, technical and analytical knowledge and skills to ensure internal equity, compliance consistency and a competitive compensation program that reaches organizational recruitment, retention and talent development milestones.


DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage, develop and facilitate implementation of global salary administration program across CWS’ programs to competitively position the organization as a premier employer in the sector and insure internal equity.
  • Conduct job evaluations; communicates rationale for assigning salary grades to new and existing positions with leaders and hiring managers; works directly with managers to establish new positions and/or review current base pay and incentive compensation structures.
  • Function as subject matter expert on all compensation policies. Advise leaders and stakeholders on pay decisions, policy interpretation and job evaluations.
  • Conduct both individual and large-scale equity reviews relative to market data and performance management data, recommending appropriate job level, base and incentive compensation.
  • Support the annual salary adjustment planning process including preparing communications, administering salary review sheets with both planning and reporting data; conducts financial modeling as required for incentive pay calculations.
  • Responsible for several bodies of work in support of designing and versioning the functionality of the global compensation module in the enterprise - wide system ensuring synchronization within the Global Payroll and Global HRIS components.
  • Upload compensation and related employee data into Global HRIS system; generate employee total rewards/ compensation statements annually, new hires, and for other employee change in status events.
  • Participate in compensation system projects including system testing, data mining, data validation and report generation.
  • In partnership with CWS’ Compensation Pay & Market Insights team, design trainings and learning opportunities for managers on compensation programs, tools and structures by developing a deep understanding of job profiles and job responsibilities for the various program, business units and teams.
  • Participate in global and national salary surveys to inform and maintain CWS’ global benchmarking knowledge repository.
  • Maintain job description library; support internal and external audit of job description needs.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state and local compensation laws and regulations.
  • Recommend and update processes for compiling, preparing and presenting compensation data and reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS/ SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree of equivalent in business, human resources or related field
  • Industry recognized compensation certification preferred.
  • A minimum of six years progressively responsible experience in global compensation, including program design, job architecture, HCM systems and advising leadership.
  • Direct experience with salary benchmarking tools; proprietary and open source.
  • A minimum of three years of direct HRIS and compensation software knowledge and exposure to compensation-specific applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze data, understand trends and develop recommendations for action based on the analysis.
  • Expert proficiency level in Excel (creatingpivotreports,conditionalformulas,and formatting; VLOOKUPs, charts / graphs). Expert level in PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of payroll policies and procedures preferred.
  • Expertise in managing projects while demonstrating urgency to complete assignments.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a matrixed, fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
  • Solid judgment; able to demonstrate a high standard of personal integrity and business ethics; able to handle sensitive & confidential information.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal navigation skills.
  • Experience working in an INGO preferred.
