Reporting to the Maintenance Infrastructure Manager, the Controls Engineer will design, develop, fabricate, modify, and repair control systems for Materion's new and existing deposition, support, and test equipment. The Controls Engineer will engage in hands-on troubleshooting and repairs, with the emphasis on electrical and electronic components and instrumentation.

You Will Have the Opportunity to:

  • Design, develop, and fabricate industrial control systems, including specification and selection of components in accordance with project specific requirements and applicable electrical codes with an emphasis on safety, reliability, and maintainability
  • Generate electrical schematics necessary to wire the control system and interface it to other system components
  • Program PLCs, specifically Automation Direct PLCs, with an emphasis on program reliability and safety
  • Provide hands on troubleshooting and repair of control systems, instrumentation, and components
  • Configure Human Machine Interface (HMI) software to provide all visual and tactile interfaces with the control system
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years' manufacturing experience
  • Knowledge of DirectSoft PLC programming and analog, digital and micro controller circuits to facilitate the design and repair of new and existing equipment
  • Knowledge of databases and SQL programming
  • Proficiency in the use of AutoCad 2D/3D and mechanical design experience
The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

Since Materion Precision Optics and Thin Film Coatings is a Department of Defense cleared facility, the candidate selected will have to qualify as either a U.S. Citizen, a U.S. National, or a Lawful Permanent Resident of the U.S.
