Senior Cost Accountant

The responsibilities of the Senior Cost Accountant will include preparation of monthly/quarterly financial statements, preparation and/or review of account reconciliations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assisting with preparation of monthly and annual budgets and forecasts
  • Preparing and analyzing budget vs actuals
  • Preparing and/or reviewing appropriate ledger entries and reconciliations
  • Conducting various project cost studies and analysis, including profitability of individual contracts
  • Performing analysis of records for allowability of costs per FAR Part 31
  • Assisting with monthly close procedures
  • Assisting with DCAA and DCMA audits

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, public accounting experience a plus
  • Experience with general ledger functions and month-end processes including reconciliations.
  • Experience with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS)

Specialized Knowledge and Skills
  • Establish priorities, meet deadlines and work independently with limited supervision
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the use of vlookups, sumifs, and other logic-based formulas
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, and Word
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented, efficient and organized
  • Possess strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Experience with Deltek Cost Point a plus
  • Positive attitude, able to accept feedback and constructive criticism
