SUMMARY

Working with general supervision, the Senior Engineer, Data is responsible for the support and maintenance of data platforms and / or the development of data strategies in an enterprise environment. This position interacts with a manager several times a week, perhaps daily, to receive guidance and feedback. Some degree of autonomy and decision making will be necessary but may require manager's advanced approval.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collaborate in the planning and development of data technologies / services
• Perform daily management, monitoring and administration of data platforms
• Contribute to the design and enforcement of data development procedures and processes
• Resolve issues of increasing complexity related to area of expertise as they occur
• Collaborate with team members across IT
• Facilitate IT service management processes
• Develop and implement data engineering solutions to support GME's data and analytics capabilities.
• Work with analysts and business owners to define conceptual and logical data models for both relational and big-data
• Advise developers (EIM) in building ETL workflows to transform data into structures optimized for reporting and self-service analytics
• Use SQL extensively to support developers
• Mentor junior engineers
• Use Erwin extensively to design conceptual/logical data models
• Use and administer metadata platform(s) to support delivery and business analysis for both relational and big-data opportunities
• Analyze and perform system design for projects of advanced complexity
• Help lead the development of set standard coding/data practices
• Fully documents all programs, ERD, (etc.) written or revised
• Problem isolation/determination

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelors degree with a regionally accredited program or 5+ years relevant work experience
• 7+ years of related experience. 12+ years for educational equivalency
• Must be available to work after hours and weekends as needed
• Must participate in an "on-call" rotation and accept calls after hours and on weekends in order to respond to the needs of a 24x7 support environment

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Masters degree Preferred
• Knowledge of the Google Data Platform is preferred
