A DAY IN THE LIFE

The Senior Equipment Service Technician is responsible for providing planned preventive maintenance (PM) as well as repair services for instruments, analyzers and test equipment used by the MAQS Air Group. This includes performing evaluation, repair, and testing of national and regional assets. In addition to maintenance and repairs, Senior Equipment Service Technicians have responsibility for calibration, shop cleanliness, inventory of MAQS equipment and gas cylinders, equipment load out and job prep.

As a key member of the stack team, this role will be responsible for a full range of duties including:

  • Troubleshoot electrical equipment and analyzers using diagnostic tools and reference manuals and drawings.
  • Perform repairs on equipment from written instructions, sketches, plans, diagrams, verbal descriptions and training based on observed conditions.
  • Repair and maintain analyzers, sample systems, electronic components, electric heat tracing, instrumentation, and other components on-site.
  • Work with test equipment such as multi-meters, handheld programmers, and the like to troubleshoot and correct problems on analyzers and associated equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on systems and/or equipment as needed.
  • Possess strong knowledge of most of the following:
    • digital multimeters
    • calibrating instruments
    • pressure transmitters
    • thermocouples
    • heaters
    • heated sample lines
    • temperature controllers
    • troubleshooting 480v and below
    • workable knowledge of test meters
    • install conduit
    • install wiring based on code requirements
  • Read P&IDs and other electrical and instrument related drawings, and be able to use them to identify components, install systems, and troubleshoot problems.
  • Document, report and tag maintenance and inventory discrepancies found in the field or in the shop. Quarantine out-of-service equipment.
  • Contribute as needed to build-outs of MAQS Air Group mobile labs
  • Contribute as needed to build-outs of Temporary CEMS
  • Supporting role calibrating testing equipment weekly, semi-annually, and annually as appropriate. Working with vendors as necessary to outsource calibration of test equipment if it cannot be performed in house. Maintain calibration records for all test equipment
  • Supporting role with gas cylinder inventory and management per company procedures
  • Supporting role for inventory of test equipment assets
  • Ensures adequate inventory of spare parts is available.
  • Provide technical support to field personnel as needed.
  • Support as needed with equipment / lab prep, job load outs and equipment serviceability checks upon project finish
  • Supporting role with fleet vehicle and mobile lab cleanliness, organization, serviceability, inspections and tags/licensing in compliance with all company, State and Federal requirements
  • Supporting role with responsibility for shop organization and cleanliness
  • Supporting role procuring and maintaining the shop supply of consumables needed for testing
  • Supporting role training newly hired personnel on shop procedures and how to properly calibrate, repair and maintain test equipment.
  • Supporting role with test equipment and Safety Supply procurement (obtaining quotes, requesting P.O.s, etc.)
  • Supporting role with responsibility for Hazardous Materials storage in the shop per State and Federal requirements
  • Supporting role with responsibility for office and shop compliance per local and state Fire Marshall ordinances
  • Supporting role with responsibility for office and shop security and alarms (if this service is being used).
  • Supporting role with responsibility for managing vehicle service, repairs, tags and licenses at the local office level
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of industry experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of tools used for instrument repair (multimeter, etc.)
  • Proficient with Google and Microsoft office Suite products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Resourcefulness, flexibility, and resiliency to operate in a dynamic work environment
  • Ability and willingness to travel locally
  • Ability and willingness to travel out-of-town with overnight stays less than 10% of the year
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders and work from heights
  • Must have the ability to lift 50-60 pounds using Company provided equipment
  • Capability to pass background checks and initial and random drug screening.
  • Valid driver's license
