Responsibilities

It's an exciting time to join Baker Tilly! We are looking for a Senior Financial Analyst/Underwriter to join our Capital Formation Team.

The Capital Formation Team at Baker Tilly (BT) is comprised of dedicated, client-focused professionals specializing in capital sourcing for real estate projects and operating businesses nationwide. Our specialized team assists project sponsors in securing and structuring capital for new construction, expansion, and acquisition/rehabilitation of real estate and the expansion of job creating operating businesses.

BT's New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) team is an industry leading financial consulting group which has been involved in the NMTC industry since its inception over 20 years ago. The team presently maintains offices in Illinois, Texas and Wisconsin and is comprised of professionals with significant NMTC and structured finance experience.

The NMTC team works closely with For-Profit and Non-Profit organizations to secure tax credits, structure the financing, and maximize the capital stack while working with multiple financing sources. The team provides deep industry expertise and leverages extensive relationships with NMTC stakeholders including community development entities, Investors and lenders for our client engagements.

As a Senior Financial Analyst with BTs NMTC team, you will work closely with Partners and Senior Managers providing high-value structured finance consulting for the benefit of For-Profit and Non-Profit clients. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Seek information from project sponsors to analyze community impacts of projects
  • Collaborate with and assist team with financing structures to support NMTC or related financings
  • Prepare executive summary pitchbooks for projects to source NMTC capital, investment and subsidy from development entities and investors [primarily national banks]
  • Assist team to identify and interact with the financing participants and investors
  • Assist team in obtaining and negotiating term sheets
  • Prepare preliminary financial models
  • Gather, organize and analyze due diligence
  • Assist in project management responsibilities
  • Assist in the closing and documentation of the NMTC related financing
Qualifications

Successful candidates will meet the following requirements:
  • Two + years of lending, finance or accounting related experience including internships in related fields or industry. Work experience with NMTCs, commercial lending or community development preferred
  • An undergraduate degree in Business Administration with emphasis in Accounting, Finance, or real estate preferred
  • Demonstrated analytical, organizational, interpersonal, project management, and communication skills
  • Ability to provide exceptional client service and demonstrate commitment to continuous learning in order to stay current regarding applicable strategies
  • Understanding of financials and operating performance
  • Successful candidate will have a willingness to work in BT Offices on a regular hybrid basis and to travel as required [generally short duration]
