The Senior Product Scientist will lead the Product Development aspect of Research and Engineer (R&E) projects specific to Poise Innovation programs for KCNA. As a member of the R&E D&C Team, this individual will work collaboratively with the Project Leader, Marketing, Sales, Quality and Manufacturing and other R&E partners to develop and execute learning plans while also mentoring more junior Product Developers. The incumbent reports to an R&E Manager and receives work direction from the Manager, Technical Leader and Project Leaders.

in this role you will:

  • Working with the R&E project lead and Marketing team as well as Personal Care R&E, develop learning plans and execute them, as well as mentor other more junior scientists on the team.

  • Lead the interaction with the Marketing team to ensure product design is meeting our concept and is on strategy.

  • Champion the product design and learning plan for Poise innovation programs.

  • Champion claims substantiation and Benefits Visualization development to bring the innovation to life.

  • Protect and defend K-C proprietary product and technology through the appropriate use of patents and trade secrets.

  • Document key learnings and significant research findings in a searchable, retrievable format and coach junior team members in their documentation practices.

  • Develop and leverage deep product expertise and leverage knowledge cross-functionally to field questions for LCM, DtV, competitive claims, etc.

  • Make connections between projects and product learnings to solve complex complaint and manufacturing issues

  • Provide coaching and mentorship to more junior Product Developers on the team

  • Interface effectively with the other work stream teams to ensure business success.

  • Ensure all work complies with corporate safety, regulatory, product safety and sustainability requirements.

Education, Experience, Qualifications:

Required (essential for the job):

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience

  • Broad experiences in product development

  • Experience in executing consumer or technical / scientific studies.

  • Proven track record of effectively communicating to and influencing leaders and team members across all levels of the R&E and cross-functional organization.

  • Ability to provide work direction to team members not in a direct reporting relationship

  • 15-25% in-country travel

Preferred (not essential, but desired):

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science related field

  • Experience in product development and launch of consumer packaged goods (CPGs)

  • Experience leading both consumer and technical research studies

  • Experience leading product design changes

  • Work experience across a range of Research & Engineering disciplines

  • Strong understanding of AFC products, brands, business, and technologies.

  • Strong mentorship skills
