Purpose

Position Summary

This role will help manage REC (Renewable Energy Certificates) merchant position by executing short- and long-term trades, as directed by Lead Trader. This position requires validation of Inventory and market value and will require interface with 3rd party tracking systems and exchange platforms for the numerous eligible products sold by Avangrid.

The position will require analysis around budgeting, as well as fundamental review for different markets in order to inform liquidation strategies. The position will take an active role in delivery of products, as well as working with the internal groups to ensure accurate accounting.

Responsibilities

Position Description

• Manage Position using internal inventory system.
• Post Curve updates for numerous markets on periodic basis.
• Execute REC (Renewable Energy Certificates) transactions with Counterparty and work with internal groups to finalize contracts.
• Record Trades at time of execution and maintain trade documentation throughout contract finalization.
• Ensure Physical Delivery and Invoicing of Merchant Trades.
• Manage online execution of Aged RECs with third party liquidation system.
• Track performance relative to Budget and meet or exceed revenue requirements
• Work with lead trader to develop GM (Grant Management) Budget with internal groups.
• Track legislative and program changes in multiple REC markets.
• Coordinate with Origination team to support contract review and new transaction execution.

Additional Responsibilities

• Consult with internal stakeholders on communication requirements to protect REC value.

Skills and Requirements

• Master Degree preferred and/or at least 5 years' directly relevant experience in energy; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• General understanding of energy industry.
• Experience with or understanding of financial and physical trading products
• Strong working knowledge of Excel and other MS Office software programs.
