Job Description:

We are looking for an established sr level backend Engineer with a desire to work closely with the data layer. This role is expected to have a high competency working with Java or Kotlin and a reasonable level of comfort with Apache Kafka.

Preferred location is MN but open to US remote. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Main Responsibilities:

• Work with other engineers and product to deliver technical work with clean code and sufficient tests
• Architect and design scalable and maintainable solutions utilizing Java or Kotlin
• Collaborate with technical leadership to plan and prioritize software development projects
• Explain architectural options to business and confidently discuss the pros and cons of each option
• Clearly document technical designs for future use
• Work with other members of the team to help prioritize technical efforts
• Provide technical direction, mentorship, and support for more junior engineers

Candidates Must Have:

• Confidence with recent versions of Java and/or Kotlin
• Familiarity with Kafka and the Kafka Streams library
• 5+ years relevant software engineering experience
• Experience designing technical solutions from discovery to delivery
• Ability to collaborate with multiple technical teams and business
• Prior experience as a technical lead or experience leading medium to large scale technical initiatives

Nice to Have:

• Handy with SQL (Snowflake) and some form of noSQL (MongoDB)
• Exposure to Kubernetes
• Some understanding of RabbitMQ
