We are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to join our growing team. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Technical Operations, you will support and implement approaches to fully integrate vulnerability and compliance operations in support of our security mission.

This position is responsible for the ongoing patch and vulnerability compliance of end user and server infrastructure, including all laptops, desktops, printers, physical and virtual servers. This position will work closely with our Security team to drive compliance and vulnerability remediation & patching SLAs. This requires an extremely organized individual combined with a deep technical understanding of the tools and processes required to both apply the patches automatically and leverage the tools to minimize exposure to ongoing vulnerabilities. A strong understanding of the supporting toolset will be essential for success.

Required Skills:

  • Perform a full review of existing tools and processes, building a continuous improvement plan roadmap to assess monthly patches and associated environment risk.
  • Demonstrated vulnerability assessment/remediation experience including the coordination or performance of patch/configuration deployments across multiple platforms including Windows Server, Ubuntu, SUSE, Solaris, and end user computing.
  • Design and implement a patch testing process to reduce the impact and increase compliance.
  • Automate and reduce the patching cycle over time, reducing manual effort and attack profile. Respond to and patch the environment 24x7 as required to meet SLAs.
  • Validating, packaging, distributing & remediating software updates/patches using tools such as SCCM, WSUS, Tanium & Intune.
  • Apply all operating system patches to all devices according to established SLAs.
  • Apply all commercial off the shelf software (COTS) patches according to established SLAs.
  • Implement DISA STIG/CIS controls according to established SLAs.
  • Apply firmware & driver upgrades/patches for hardware such as printers, Hyper-V hosts, laptops, docking stations, etc.
  • Implement PowerShell & GPOs as required to make changes required to fully patch the environment.
  • Utilize existing and/or recommend additional tools to automate patching & remediation processes.
  • Perform regular IT Asset Management assessments between various tools to ensure all devices are patching.
  • Implement/utilize WSUS, SCCM, and Intune co-management to improve efficiency and reporting.
  • Report patching success and vulnerability remediation statistics as required by the Cyber Security team.
  • Regular planning and liaison to the Cyber Security team.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers/architects for upgrades to operating systems, cloud environments, etc.
  • Remain current on new products and standards in support of the role, the tools & processes.
  • Experience onboarding, tuning, and implementing enterprise security solutions including Tenable/Nessus, Qualys, and Tanium.
  • Extensive knowledge of operating system knowledge including Windows 10, Windows Server, Linux, Solaris, Ubuntu, SUSE.
  • Extensive experience with CIS and DISA STIG controls and management (OS, Applications, Network).
  • Support experience in a Citrix VDI environment.

Qualifications:
  • BS in Computer Science, Information Security, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years as a Senior Technician/Engineer supporting multiple platforms including Windows Server, Windows10, Solaris, Ubuntu, SUSE.
  • Expert knowledge of SCCM, WSUS as well as Active Directory experience and GPO knowledge (ability to write a GPO).
  • Proven experience in patching and vulnerability management both in software and hardware.
  • Extensive experience implementing and managing DISA STIG/CIS controls.
  • Automation experience.
  • Ability to plan, design, implement and support complex solutions in the patching/vulnerability space.

Highly Desirable Skills:
  • Professional designation such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, CCSP, CCIE, etc.
  • 5 years of experience with selecting and assessing security controls.
  • Experience with Plan of Actions and Milestones (POA&Ms).
  • Familiar with Cloud Security Standards and Requirements.
