To support this, we are currently looking for a Senior Underwriter, Medical Stop Loss (Clinical), with our focus being on the candidate's clinical skill set.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Perform clinical research to determine dollar value of risk, appropriate lasering, etc.
  • Provide recommendations on case level medical/clinical reviews that are part of the underwriting process.
  • Evaluate, peer review pricing and propose rate and strategy on new and renewal Medical Stop-Loss Insurance prospects.
  • Use Excel and Everest's account management system to write reports and perform analyses on groups or blocks of business.
  • Manage the sold case process including underwriting terms and conditions and administrative reporting.
  • Manage assigned workload to meet productivity and time service standards.

Qualifications and Work Experience
  • Medical / Medical Stop Loss experience required with a significant, strong clinical background and / or a degree in nursing (R.N.) is highly desirable.
  • 8 or more years of medical stop loss or large group underwriting experience; or combination of claims or clinical experience.
  • Ability to work both independently as well as in a team environment including other underwriters, actuarial, claims and administration.
  • Hands-on experience with PredictDx and PredictRx (or similar applications) is highly preferred.
  • Experience with other A&H product lines.
  • Experience with ERISA plans and medical stop loss policy forms.
  • Comfort using various medical stop loss pricing manuals and rating models.
  • Fluency or great proficiency in interpreting and using medical terminology.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills required.
  • Must be detail oriented and have the ability to multitask and manage a high-volume workload.

For NYC Only: The base salary range for this position is $90,000 - $160,000 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications, and work location.
