Job Summary:

This Site Reliability Engineer role will focus on Release Engineering and will be responsible for Configuration Management, Release Process Automation and Software Deployments of Mueller's large scale IoT web application. They will be required to operate in a range of environments from AWS, Windows and Linux operating systems as well as participate in activities such as release planning and production support. Working knowledge Agile/SCRUM methodology is expected

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Understanding of the architecture, features and functions of the software platform from a system and a user perspective and how configuration changes affect the operation of the software

  • Automate and improve critical release processes using the appropriate tools and scripting languages for deploying software to AWS and Windows

  • Drive the end-to-end deployment processes during software release cycles

  • Deploy sites and services for newly acquired customers through automated and manual processes

  • Manage customer configurations of software in Octopus Deploy, config files and databases tables

  • Analyze problems quickly and perform root cause analysis; efficiently defining, leading and communicating appropriate courses of action

  • Participate in technical support operations and other cross-functional areas as needed and collaborate with business operations

  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by Sr. Director of Engineering


Qualifications:

  • BS CE, or CS or similar degree

  • 4+ years of experience developing commercial software

  • Deep experience with AWS services and how services work together

  • Fluent in both JavaScript and Python, with the latest language standards

  • Knowledge of SQL required: MySQL & PSQL

  • Experience writing CloudFormation scripts with YAML

  • Ability to write well-documented, clean code that follows community style guidelines

  • Understanding of REST APIs

  • Working experience with development using git flow

  • Collaborative, service-oriented, team focused attitude with a high attention to detail

  • Experience with C#/.NET is a plus

  • Experience with Ruby on Rails is a plus


NICE-TO-HAVES:

  • Some software development experience

  • PowerShell scripting experience

  • Experience with RESTful web services

  • Experience with Infrastructure and Application Monitoring tools (DataDog preferred)

  • Experience with Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment
