Leaf Group is looking for a Software Engineer that will be working on Content Lab, a CMS that allows editors to create and manage the content for all of our sites. This is a large, sophisticated, single page application used by hundreds of users that allows for real-time collaboration between editors. We provide a highly interactive, smooth user-experience inside the browser, allowing users to perform complex tasks around content management. Our frontend is built on top of Django, React.js and interfaces to a set of microservices written in Node.js.

You'll Report To: Sr. Manager, Engineering

A typical day as a Software Engineer might include:

  • Working on a complex, modular user interface where application architecture and API design are the main challenges. As a member of a cross-functional team, you'll work side by side with Frontend, SDET and Backend engineers of the Media Team.
  • You will mainly work on the Composer module, which is responsible for the creation of all of the content of more than 60 sites. You'll gain exposure to a wide range of technologies and approaches that are not limited to frontend development but will also give you a comprehensive grasp of the entire product.
You'll be successful if you are a Software Engineer who specializes in frontend development to build scalable, single page applications utilizing React/Vue.js, Webpack, jQuery, LESS/SASS technologies. The ideal candidate is passionate about engineering, great user experiences, and is excited to work on initiatives that help build our business. What You Have:
  • Minimum of 2 years' coding experience, preferably developing in JavaScript or Python.
  • Strong expertise with JavaScript, asynchronous programming, Promises, ES6, etc.
  • Solid knowledge with browser APIs to capture user interaction.
  • Experience with application frameworks (React/Redux, Vue.js, Angular).
  • Experience with component-based architecture and development.
  • Strong understanding of building web apps powered by RESTful APIs.
  • Comfortable with Developer Tools, Git, Code Reviews, and Jira.
  • Familiar with: OOP, REST, JSON, SEMVER, CMS.
  • Confidence in your code because you drink Mocha and sometimes Chai.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Not afraid to wear multiple hats - no job being too small or too large.

Nice To Have:
  • Any knowledge of Node.js and frameworks (Express, Restify, Next.js) associated with it.
  • Any knowledge of Python and Django framework is a huge plus.
  • Any knowledge of jQuery, Handlebars or vanilla JavaScript is a huge plus.
  • Knowledge with embedding with 3rd party platforms like Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, etc
  • Knowledge of using SEO tools like, Google Analytics, Semrush, Clearscope.
