The University of Miami Health System at Doral has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Special Procedures Technologist 2 with a hire date of June, 2024.

The University of Miami Health System will soon open the second phase to our state-of-the-art facility in Downtown Doral that serves as a western hub for our distinguished regional network of ambulatory services. This 160,000 square foot expansion will continue to bring world-class academic medicine, cutting-edge technology, and innovative treatment options to the rapidly growing Doral community. UHealth at Doral will have services through the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, and the Desai Sethi Urology Institute, as well as specialties such as cardiology, endocrinology, otolaryngology, gastroenterology, dermatology, and more. The expansion will provide residents with innovative, specialized medical services in the heart of their community. Once complete, UHealth at Doral will have 8 operating rooms, 3 endoscopy procedure rooms, 33 cancer treatment bays, over 60 multidisciplinary exam rooms, and supporting ancillary services like imaging, lab, and respiratory therapy. UHealth at Doral will open in September, 2024.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Verifies the patient's ID by checking their name and date of birth. Corroborates patient's clinical history and ensures information is documented and available for use.
2. Assist with patient interviews before a procedure and documents all relevant information.
3. Ensures that the attending radiologist obtains the proper informed consent.
4. Prepares the patient for procedures to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
5. Notifies appropriate person of any change(s) in patients' status.
6. Maintains proper sterile techniques for procedures and strictly practices aseptic technique.
7. Assists the radiologist throughout procedures with all the necessary supplies.
8. Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others.
9. Positions the patient for the examination and obtains good technical quality scout film of the area before starting procedures.
10. Assumes care for physical and psychological needs of the patient during the procedure.
11. Initiates life support measures for patients and assists in cardiopulmonary resuscitation during medical emergencies.
12. Maintains working knowledge of all patient monitoring devices.
13. Provides patient education in collaboration with other department staff.
14. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Associate degree or equivalent

Certification and Licensing:

Certification in relevant specialty or field

Experience:

Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
